Air Jordan III “Doernbecher” was designed by Cole Johanson, and the shoe tells the story of this kid. If you look at the red upper, you can discern the word “COLE”, spelled within diamond grid pattern, as well as a homage to his favorite foods – chocolate and spaghetti behind the pull-tab. But it was two words inscribed on the insole that helped Cole beat his lymphoma: “Strength and Courage” – these two words helped Cole to beat his lymphoma, and these words can be seen on the outsole of the shoe. Coles explains it like this: “Those are the two things you need the most. Especially courage. I mean, everyone has it, the trick is just not letting it go when hard things happen.” Now the boy can’t wait to rock this sneakers on the court of his high school.
